Om Namashivaya!!My wife and I were part of a group of 23 yatris who had the good fortune to have a darshan of the venerable Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar as part of the 2025 Australia Touch Kailash Group, based in Sydney, Australia.Selva, who organised the tour in Australia, had a one-on-one discussion with my wife and I, prior to us signing up for the yatra spelling out what was involved, and the challenges that we would face. From about October 2024, the excitement built up with endurance walks with our organiser Selva and many discussions about what the yarta involved. Most of the yatris travelling with us were based around Sydney, so we got to know each other very well. After reaching Kathmandu, we travelled overland to the Nepal-Tibet boarder and were introduced to Mr Tashi who handled the immigration formalities with the Chinese authorities competently. Everything went smoothly and we then travelled over the course of the next few days to Lake Mansarovar, stopping a couple of days at a few places to acclimitise to the high altitudes. From Lake Mansarovar we travelled to Darchen and started the parikrama of the holy mountain. Our first walk to Dhirapuk with our sherpas was amazing, with the river flowing on one side and the distant mountains appearing to move along with us as we walked. Dil, the tour leader, kept popping out of nowhere to check on our wellbeing so we felt confident and secure with our walk and we could concentrate on the yatra. Mount Kailash appeared majestically on our right hand side and it was a most amazing experience to finally feel the power of the holy mountain. We spent the next two nights at Dirapuk in the proximity of Mount Kailash and it was so wonderful to wake up and see the mountain turn golden in the early rays of the sun. We completed the parikrama and darshan of holy Mount Kailsh successfully as Selva had promised.Along each and every section of our travel, the team from Touch Kailash looked after our every need and concern. From the breakfast, lunch and dinner provided to the transportation and accommodation, everything went according to plan. From Australia to Kathmandu and back, we were chaperoned by the very capable Sugi who took good care of us. Thank you Selva and Sugi and your amazing staff who make our yatra so successful and satisfying. Also, thanks to our wonderful yatris for unforgettable memories and many grateful thanks to the great Lord Shiva without whose blessings this yatra would not have been possible. Om Namashivaya!!
